twiXer – Mash Up Your Links Into Tweets

What Is twiXer?

A name twiXer comes from “Tweets Mixer”. This tool creates for you smart tweets just from a list of bare links.

What Do You Need twiXer For?

Sometime you get just a bunch of links, without any titles or texts. But you can’t post bare links to Twitter just like them are, because Twitter hates it and would instantly ban your accounts for spam. Therefore you need to add to each of those links some text to form a nice smart human-looking tweet.

And even better, not just some text but news headers or topics of the day.

All this is easily done by twiXer.

How Does twiXer Work?

twiXer takes your links list and mashes these links into ready tweets.

Here are some screenshots:

1. Take you list of links and insert it into twiXer window.

Paste list of links

2. Choose a number of tweets for one chunk in output. In this example, 50 tweets per chunk.

3. Click Submit.

Click Submit

4. Bingo!
Tweets are ready and apportioned by chunks. Each chunk contains 50 tweets, in this case.

5. Copy one chunk, paste tweets into twindeXator and create a task. Then copy the next chunk etc.

Important Notes

1. Why do I need to break the output list to chunks?

To make twindeXator tasks shorter.

2. Why the tweets I get are longer than 140 characters?

twiXer truncates the tweet text down to 120 characters. The url later will be shortened by twindeXator, and shortened url’s are usually no longer than 20 characters, so it’s 140 all in all.
To change this value of 120 characters, open index.php file and change this value at the line 34.

3. Why this is a detached script and not included into twindeXator?

Actually, the idea of this feature was prompted by our test users. We will definitely include this functional in future versions of twindeXator, but meanwhile we have quickly built this script.

4. Do I need proxy for working with twiXer?

No, twiXer works without proxy. You can freely parse a couple of thousands titles without ban.

5. What are the hosting requirements for twiXer installation?

twiXer can run on almost every server, even on most of shared hostings. You need CURL installed. It also can work on your localhost.

6. How to install twiXer?

Very simple: unzip the archive, upload twixer folder to your server and point your browser to it. That’s all.
